Support the Hawaii Film Office

Aloha SAG member,

As you may know, the Hawaii Film Office is a casualty of the on-going negotiations between the State of Hawaii and HGEA (Hawaii Government Employees Association).

The decisions by Director Ted Liu of the Department of Business, Economic Development & Tourism (DBEDT) are unconscionable to the point of ludicrous. The film industry needs a State film office to service productions locally and from out-of-state. If there is a break in these services, it will impair the industry’s ability to function, to attract productions, to create jobs and bring in revenues to our State.

We are writing to ask that you do one or more of the following actions to show our support for the Hawaii Film Office.

•  Write to Governor Linda Lingle expressing your dismay that the dismantling of this key office that generates major income and jobs to the State would destroy the industry.

•  Write letters to the editors of both newspapers, the Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

•  Write your legislators. To get the address of your legislators go to: www.capitol.hawaii.gov

The Governor’s address is: The Honorable Linda Lingle, Governor, State of Hawaii, Executive Chambers, State of Capitol, Honolulu, HI 96813.  Email: governor.lingle@hawaii.gov

Be sure to note in your letter/email that you are a member of SAG.

Aloha,

The SAG Hawaii Board of Directors
