Join the Script to Screen Team in Austin!
The Austin Conservatory announces its first Script to Screen read. A Feather in the Rain by Alex Cord will be presented at Austin’s State Theater on Monday, March 30 at 7 p.m.
The Script to Screen Team was introduced in Houston last year and has been presenting successful LIVE presentations of WGA scripts before area investors, directors, producers, agents and other industry folk. The March 30 read is the first chance the Austin community will have to participate in this growing venture.
Casting for A Feather in the Rain is underway. For possible consideration to become part of the Script to Screen Team, please submit your headshot and resume to tavery@sag.org no later than March 6, 2009.

JESSE BURRELL A youthful 45 to 60, grey-haired, trim, the charm and orneriness of Paul Newman in a character mix between “Nobody’s Fool” and “Harry & Son,” Horse trainer; 26-year-old Zachary’s father [LEAD]
HOLLY MARIE BASSETT (30’s) (Bear’s daughter) Shapely, Beautiful model by day, does film editing and camera work in the City, reporting and covering small local-events. Rode horses as a child. From Denver, Colorado, grew up on the ranch but now a city girl. Practices Yoga and familiar with indigenous customs.
ABBIE (ABIGAIL) ROTHWELL (21 yr old female) Woodfire red hair, freckles and flashy smile, tomboyish, helps Jesse on the ranch, prankster, smart aleck, impish, wise-cracking
LARRY LITTLEFIELD – Wealthy cowboy legend from Colorado (50’s-60’s) organizes horse events benefiting charities, The epitome of cowboy, gray-haired, youthful, tough as woodpecker lips, sun burnt, fit.
HENRY “BEAR” BASSET – 60’s, bright-eyed face with flashing smile under a clean black cowboy hat. Barrel-chested, powerful.
RUBY BASSET – Bear’s wife, thin barely 100 lbs., long skirt, boots, fringed jacket and old-time Charle Russell Stetson with a smile that makes Bear’s smile pale. Gregarious. Identifies with Jesse’s loss. She and her husband both lost a son.
DR. WALTER NALLS (60) 6’2, big man, large belly, cigar smoking, Rich ranch and horse owner of Buckshot’s sire, the sorrel colt, wealthy Texan, starched and creased Wranglers, ostrich boots.

LAMAR McCARTHY 60’s Leona’s husband, a superior court judge, wears alligator boots, fine flannel. Horse owner/trader.
DARYL ANN HENLEY – mid 40’s - Wears silver spurs on $1,000 custom made boots, tight wranglers painted on the Mackintosh butt, white silk shirt rippling over busty $10,000 breasts, flaunting sexuality. Rich and playful, gets what she wants.
