Hola! We are excited to report that on March 3, 2011 a new package of film incentives was signed into law making Puerto Rico competitive with some of the top production hubs in the U.S. The new law extends the 40% production tax credit to include TV programs, documentaries, national and international commercials and dubbing, and for the first time allows producers to claim a 20% tax credit for hiring non-residents, including salaries of actors. Recently, in anticipation of the signing of the new incentives law, Staff from the South Region office visited the Island and held workshops and a mixer for members, film students and producers. The response was positive and we are looking forward to returning soon to continue our organizing and educational outreach with the production community on the Island.
